Job description:
Are you an outgoing, energetic individual who enjoys working out, socializing and has a passion for providing excellent customer service? Rickshaw Collective is seeking aspiring individuals to join our team in Halifax on a casual, part-time or full-time basis for this season, running until the end of November. This is a unique outdoor lifestyle job for active, social, confident people who want flexible hours, strong earning potential, and a fun role in downtown Halifax nightlife and tourism. Rickshaw Runners provide memorable rides around busy downtown areas and the waterfront while getting paid to stay active, meet people, and create memorable experiences for passengers.
Most shifts are 4–8 hours (you choose). Average shifts are often around $250–$350, slower shifts may be around $150–$200, and strong busy nights can reach $500+. Typical earnings work out to $30 – $80/hour. This is a commission + tips role, earnings vary by effort, confidence approaching people, sales ability, weather, events, tourists, nightlife activity, and downtown foot traffic. Cash is earned immediately, and card transactions are paid out weekly, every Monday.

Rickshaw Running Schedule
Working Months

Working Hours
Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Hours: Evening and late night, typically 8pm–4am, you choose
Flexible and Casual
You control your schedule, you decide when you work and how long you work
Shift length: Usually 4–8 hours, chosen by you
Location: Downtown Halifax
Argyle st, Grafton st, Spring Garden rd, the Waterfront, and other busy downtown areas
Availability
Open to men and women. Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada and physically capable of the role.

Responsibilities
- Operate a rickshaw to transport passengers within designated areas of Halifax.
- Provide safe and fun transportation services to customers, ensuring an exciting and enjoyable ride.
- Go above and beyond to provide entertainment and excellent customer service. Interact with the passengers, make jokes, play music and create conversation to elevate the mood.
- Use safe running, jogging, music, energy, tricks and personality to create a fun and memorable ride
- Socialize, and communicate effectively with passengers, offering information about local attractions, landmarks, and events.
- Collect fares and process payments accurately.
Requirements
- The most important requirements are to be physically fit, charismatic, social and responsible when it comes to safety.
- Speak clear and fluent English.
- Live in Halifax Regional Municipality and have a reliable means of transportation.
- Physical fitness and ability to pull a rickshaw for extended periods (from 4 - 8 hours).
- Excellent customer service skills with a confident, friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Familiarity with Halifax's streets, bars, landmarks, and tourist destinations.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Reliable and responsive in communication.

Onboarding
Selected applicants will be contacted for a phone interview. If we proceed, you’ll complete training and two trial shifts accompanied by an experienced runner. These first shifts help you learn the job and decide whether it’s a good fit.
